24- Capitol Crossing

 Capitol Crossing- Balmori

The design of the space is linear and makes use of the shape of the site used, exaggerating the right angles with the use of square shapes everywhere on a horizontal and vertical plane. Walking in a space like this would feel structured, certain and safe as a design as it's consistent. There is still the element of surprise in the varying use of materials and the rectangular slates providing shade overhead.

The use of shape in the space contrasts with the softness of the vegetation, the juxtaposition is complimenting. The plant colours add some playfulness through the textures and colours, with feathered ferns and pink lupin. The only aspect that I didn't understand was in the third image, the sudden border of flowers creating a slope felt random, but could play into that small element of surprise within the space. The way the designs were presented was beautiful with the watercolour effect making the scene feel somewhat dreamlike and easier to visualise and interpret with feelings as much as looking at it as a purely functional point.
