8- Urban Shade

 Looking at urban shade for my Pecha Kucha presentation, there have been some interesting examples of how shade is being used to help the thermal comfort of people in urban areas. Shade isn't there just to take the sun off people but it can help to cool a space. 

Using semi shaded area for protection from the intensity of the sun, the use of the geometric pattern creating visual interest to look at it above and the way it creates shade on the ground. 

The use of nature for shade using grape vines to protect entire paved areas.

Shade fitting the colour and playfulness of the space

In South Korea parasol shades have been introduced to pedestrian crossing areas for thermal comfort, very useful as people may be prone to fainting into potential traffic
