6- Tatton Park- Finalising Concept

We further explored the planting ideas, with the concept further explored we looked into artists who would be inspirational and reflective for this project and we chose Frida Kahlo as our source of inspiration. A woman who took to art after a serious accident had her bed-bound, her art came from a place of expression, political views, pain and observation of the world around her. She documented her life and trauma in her work from her health, her love and her views of the world. She expressed herself from the outside appearances and the internal appearances. Her self-portraits are well-known for her fashioning of her hair woven with flowers, traditional Tehuana clothing. The meaning behind her work, the colour palettes and the imagery are a place of inspiration for our concept- Self Portait.

Inspired by the work of Frida Kahlo, this thought provoking long border explores the effects that the pressures of social media has on mental health. The primary theme of the gardens is self-reflection, this is explored within the long border and makes links to the trials and tribulations by Kahlo and so the garden is split into two sections: expression and repression.
