21- Sustainable Technology- Palette

For Sus Tech we have been given the Surrey County Council Headquarters. We must make a hard materials plan, setting plan, structural planting plan, planting schedule, drainage/ earthworks plan and sections.

To start off with we were asked to come up with some mood boards/ palettes for inspiration. Since the site used to be Canon Headquarters, I'm feeling inspired by Japanese gardens promoting peace and slow-paced movement.
Planting will be the most influenced, using plants from Asia, Japan and Europe.

The narrative is based on Canon's philosophy of Kyosei, living harmoniously. I have taken elements of the Japanese landscape in conjunction with minimalism elements, to live peacefully.

Ikagai-There are five pillars that make up the foundations of Ikigai: starting small, releasing yourself, harmony and sustainability, the joy of little things, and being in the here and now.

Embracing nothingness- “Nothing exists that isn’t connected. But connectedness doesn’t exist. It shows itself through things that are connected, but connectedness itself doesn’t exist. You can’t point to it. So, which is more fundamental? Connected things, or connectedness? Connectedness is more fundamental.”
