28- Jackies Garden
Jackie has a north-facing garden with clay/loam soil. The garden was previously home to an avid gardener, there are lots of existing plants of interest including roses, fatsia japonica and gladioli. The shadow of the house casts over the garden and areas of the garden are prone to being dry. I was asked for a plant recommendation list and rough placement of plants, Jackie had very clear goals so working out what would be appropriate was easy to work with.
Jackie's goals for the garden were to have easy maintenance, a veg patch, to retain some of the roses, privacy on the front lawn, and visual interest in the front and back garden. I suggested complementary planting to the veg patch to deter pests.
